Сдохли иксы [РЕШЕНО]

Xubuntu 8.04. В системе ничего не менял, кроме как установил сторонний модуль для поддержки WiFi. После этого все работало.
Однажды, после перезагрузки пропали панели - включил.
В один прекрасный день вырубили электричество. После перезагрузки иксы загружаются, появляются иконки рабочего стола, панели не загружаются до конца, после чего система умирает окончательно. Спасает только REISUB, консоли уже не работают.

Recovery mode иксы не восстанавливает. Из под root или пользователя, запуск через startx приводит к выше описанным результатам.

Так фс и сам hdd на ошибки проверяй, сбой питания порча фс, возможно и диск по бился

Забыл написать, конечно проверял - все нормально.
Да и диск не древний не должен был побиться, и фс ext3 с журналом...

Может проще переустановить Х-сы? Или даже целиком пакет xubuntu-desktop ?

Я запускал систему с nomodeset и xforcevesa - был почему-то уверен что она запустится с драйверами vesa. Но ничего не работало. Сейчас в xorg.conf дописал driver vesa и все заработало. Потом включил проприетарный драйвер - все работает.

ps Жалко только, что я уже успел переустановить desktop, теперь заново настраиваю...
