How to change OpenOffice.org splash screens:
1) open a terminal console
2) type "sudo nautilus /usr/lib/openoffice/program/" without the quotation marks.
3) backup the file called "openintro_ubuntu.bmp" (that's the original splash) somewhere safe.
4)then go to the place where you downloaded the splash screen and copy it.
5) go back to the "/usr/lib/openoffice/program/" folder & paste the new splash screen.
(If you are using ubuntu. make sure that the name of the file you replace is "openintro_ubuntu.bmp")
If you use another distro Simply replace intro.bmp with another indexed BMP or a 24-bit RGB, but do not use 32-bit RGB. It's easiest if you start with 440x286 resolution, so you don't have to change the progress bar. You will need root or administrator privileges and a tool such as the GIMP to make BMPs.
