Обновление Ubuntu 16.04.3 -> 16.04.6 сломало иксы (возможно, виноват bumblebee)

Казалось бы, что может пойти не так от простого `sudo apt update; sudo apt upgrade`? Однако же...
При загрузке в обычном режиме - доходит до экрана логина, на пару секунд появляется мышь - потом курсор исчезает, и оно не реагирует ни на мышь, ни на клавиатуру.

При загрузке в Recovery Mode, failsafeX:

Вопрос: что делать?

Пока есть только безумная идея обновить иксы руками до требуемых 1.19.3 (поставив соотв. пакет из реп убунты/дебиана), но это отдаёт уже форменным безумием.

Прошу помощи.

UPD1: Вот тут: https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=xorg&searchon=names&exact=1&suite=all&section=all 1.19.* нет, только исходники с такой версией.

UPD4: Не помогло. Пересборка типа sudo dpkg-reconfigure nvidia-384 тоже не помогла.

На даунгрэйд не похоже.

На Ctrl+Alt+F1..7 система не отзывается. Возможно, виноват bumblebee

UPD5: Ни  ppa-purge, ни purge успеха не принесли. Буду пробовать переустановить пакеты иксов руками и доустановить что-то про abi23

UPD6: Сижу с того же компа, благо Ubuntu 12.04 на нём ещё жива. Из-под неё и пишу.

xserver-xorg-core-hwe-16.04_1.19.6-1ubuntu4.1~16.04.2_amd64.deb сумел загрузиться - правда, не работает переключение раскладок клавиатуры (но есть xneur). Хотя клавиатура - это, наверное, из-за того, что я переключился на icewm. В режиме unity грузилось всё, кроме собственно unity: панелей слева и сверху и заголовков окон. Скролл-бары окон грузились.
