Ubuntu 9.10 не хочет запускаться

Включаю я сегодня компьютер и вижу такую картину: сначала загрузка идет нормально ошибок нет, но потом вместо обычного гнома появляется предложение ввесим логин. Что-то типа:

Ubuntu 9.10 lucky13-desktop tty1
lucky13-desktop login:

После ввода логина просит пароль. Если ввести пароль, то говорит что все ок и появляется обычное приглашение терминала. 

Вопрос, чтобы это могло значить, что такое tty1 и самое главное, что это он стал запускаться при старте системы?

навеное чтото не в порядке с иксами. вот тебя в консоль и выкидывает
tty1 - первая виртуальная консоль насколько я знаю
попробуй запустить иксы
startxи посмотреть на что они ругаются

навеное чтото не в порядке с иксами. вот тебя в консоль и выкидывает
tty1 - первая виртуальная консоль насколько я знаю
попробуй запустить иксы
startxи посмотреть на что они ругаются

После  startx экран переходит в графический режим и появляется курсор мыши на черном экране.
А как посмотреть на что они ругаются? Обычно если иксы слетают, то действительно вываливается в консоль с ошибкой. А здесь какой-то tty1. Еще странно, что иксы как будто бы и не пытаются запуститься - сналала GRUB, потом черный экран с мигающим курсором, потом tty1

sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start
Пробовали? Ну или рестарт ещё попробовать можно и посмотреть в логах /var/log/Xorg.0.log или покамест кинуть их сюда..

sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start
Пробовали? Ну или рестарт ещё попробовать можно и посмотреть в логах /var/log/Xorg.0.log или покамест кинуть их сюда..

gdm говорит: /etc/init.d/gdm не найдена

Похоже, что последнее обновление не пошло системе на пользу. Как же теперь все это восстановить?

та же проблема.слетало несколько раз после выключения компа через кнопку power.тема осталась актуальной

После apt-get install gdm иксы запустились и в логе больше нет пакостей, но рабочий стол гнома не появляется, а появляется окно терминала в графическом режиме. Как я понимаю гном не может запуситься. Как узнать что ему не нравится?

Ну для начала прямо в GDM :) А так-же если у вас каким-то чудом исчез GDM вы не задумывались что и Гнома у вас нету ? 0_o

О, эта мысль мне больше нравится.
sudo apt-get install gnome-session
и вот я опять в Убунте не с liveCD.  :)

Однако не ясно что произошло. Одно подозрение: пакеты, перечисленные в логе (см. выше) система предложила обновить и после обновления gdm b gnome исчезли. Обновилась что-ли криво. В общем не понятно.
