Проблема с кирилицой при загрузке системы

На ubuntu 10.10 столкнулся с проблемой отображения кирилицы при загрузке системы.
Выглядит это следующим образом система загружается после падения, начинается fsck, он на чем то затыкается и выводит диалог где весь текст соитоит лиш из квадратов, единственное что видны только варианты ответа "S" "M"
Если кто сталкивался скажите как с этой пакостью разобраться
После загрузки с кирилицей проблем нет.

не помогает, setupcon если набрать то всё ок становится, но запихнув в rc.local это не помогает в ситуации с fsck и тд, так-как запускается в последнюю очередь.
