А что вас интересует в установке? Это штатный модем, на него должны быть драйвера. Если по логу dmesg при подключение он проходит, а в нетворк менеджере его нет, то это глюк самого менеджера.

Для таких соединений есть программа wvdial.

Не совсем (не всегда) так:
- если ядро Linux (модули ядра) достаточно старое (а Ubuntu не страдает новизной ядра )...
- а устройство (модель! именно PID в паре VID:PID) - достаточно новое...
- то модуль поддержки модемов (в свежих Linux это модуль option) может не знать и не подхватить такое устройство.

P.S. правда в этом случае не будет всей последовательности инициализации в dmesg.

Для начала нужен вывод dmesg, к потом уже будем судить что да как. Я вот почему то уверен что он в режиме накопителя подключается, и определяется как cdrom, поэтому и как модем он не виден.

Нашёл инструкцию https://forum.ubuntu.ru/index.php?topic=108600.0 ., но когда я ввожу usb_modeswitch мне выдаёт следующее:
