Переустановил Google Earth из Ubuntu Tweak. Ничего не изменилось: вся земля белая как ни крути...
Компиз отключал, атмосферу тоже - без толку.

народ помогите плз, ставлю google earth,после установки запускаю google earth появляется окно проходит 5 сек и больше ничего все исчезает. то что написано по удалению файла, сделал, но это не помогает. стоит Ubuntu 9.04

Такая же Ubuntu и такие же симптомы. Ставил из репозитория медибунты. Я не думаю, что здесь проблема со шрифтами.  :-

а если ставить гугловским файликом .bin то запускается, но распаковка шрифтов непомогает =)

Была аналогичная проблема: решилась установкой флажка в Инструменты->Настройки, вкладка 3D-просмотр, поставить флажок "Использовать безопасный режим"

У меня вообще неясное творится.
Поставил сначала скачанный с google Earth. Русского шрифта не было и вместо земного шара - только черный экран
Поставил с репозитория Medibuntu - такая же история.
Подскажите как правильно вынести оба (это первое) и как потом установить чтоб не было проблем с языком.

зашел в /opt/google-earth и сделал ему uninstall

В приложениях остался один google earth и о чудо, он запустился и русский язык на месте.
но теперь трабла другая:

Гугл планета земля не может связаться с узлом kh.google.com:80 ....

инет в это время работает нормально

Полез по подсказке Гугла - причиной может быть фаервол, но у меня не стоит никакой.
Пр этом при запуске вылезает ошибка:
ПРграмме не удалось записать текущий кэш...
будут установлены новые метки:
путь моих меток:  /home/myname/.googleearth
для кэша: /home/myname/.googleearth/Cache

жму ок. но поляна черная и шарика земного не видать

Переустановил Google Earth из Ubuntu Tweak. Ничего не изменилось: вся земля белая как ни крути...
Компиз отключал, атмосферу тоже - без толку. 

Была аналогичная проблема: решилась установкой флажка в Инструменты->Настройки, вкладка 3D-просмотр, поставить флажок "Использовать безопасный режим"

у меня программа вылетала через пять сек после запуска, помогла установка проприетарных драйверов на видюху. Прога ведь прорисовывает картинку в 3D :-)
