Как включить в WI-FI адаптере автопоиск каналов

WI-FI адаптер никаким  образом не хочет соединяться с маршрутизатором. Где-то в интернете прочитал, что такое может быть, если в адаптере отключен автопоиск каналов. Wicd пробовал. Система 11.10.

Переведите на русский "не хочет соединяться". Не видит SSID? А другие устройства видят?
И прежде чем пытаться что-то включить хорошо бы убедиться, что проблема именно в этом, вы не находите?

Я и сам это заметил. Но почему Atheros соединяется, а Realtek нет. Предистория такова: на ноуте стояла Linux Mint 11 Росинка, родной вай-фай Atheros wlan0. Воткнул этот свисток-не работает (ситема его не видит как wrelles, только в lsusb - фирма Netgear INK.). Подсунул виндовые дрова: определился как Realtek и заработал нормально как wlan1. Надо было установить другое ядро. Установил 3.01 - всё нормально. Установил 3.02 - он слетел (виден только в lsusb), и никакими судьбами включить его не удалось. Принял кардинальное решение - переустановил систему полностью, но при попытке подсунуть тот же драйвер виндовс, система сообщает "неправильный драйвер". В UBUNTU 11.10 есть драйвер для этого чипа, система всё видит, но установить соединение не может ни с автоматическими настройками ни с ручными. В Wicd тоже самое, запрашивает ключ, вертится иконка в трее, а после сообщает, что соединение не установлено. Кстати пробовал ставить ядра вплоть до последнего, всё тоже самое. Сейчас на десктопе тоже всё система видит, а соединения нет.
P.S. Облазил практически все русскоязычные форумы Линукса (иностранные тоже посмотрел немного, так как по английской фене не ботаю), но ничего подходящего мне по данной теме не встретил.
