Разрешение экрана GRUB 2 и Plymouth

Доброго времени суток! Установлена Ubunta 14.04 LTS, GRUB 2.02. После установки проприетарных видеодрайверов AMD разрешение экрана при загрузке системы изменилось с родных 1920x1080 на 1680x1050. Пробовал править /etc/default/grub добавив строку GRUB_GFXMODE=1920x1080, но разрешение при загрузке стало еще ниже, чем 1680x1050 и только в ходе загрузки на последних секундах оно меняется на FHD, но без сплэша. Команда vbeinfo не выдает мое разрешение, есть 1920x1200 и 1680x1050. Думаю что проблема именно в этом. Также пробовал различные программы для настройки GRUB, устанавливал в них FHD, после перезагрузки все равно остается 1680x1050. Подскажите как решить проблему?

У меня такая же проблема на 12.04.5 после покупки монитора самсунг S27D390H: загрузочный экран стал появляться в "оконном режиме", то есть оранжевый сплеш на фоне чёрного окна. Что я только не пробывал, думал небольшая проблема; что интересно на предыдущем мониторе LG Flatron W2234S было всё номально. Вот мой
