поставил кUbuntu 7.04драйвера на видюху встали нормально
но вот разрешение не могу установить нормальное максимальное можно тока 1024х768
я бы хотел привычное 1280х1024
чо тока я уже не делал и конфиги правил и через nvidia x server птался настроить нифига не получается
моя система nvidia fx5200 монитор Samsung SyncMaster 755DFX 17'и возможно ли это вообще сделать?

блин. я никак не пойму логику установки дров нвидиа. стояли обычные с диска Ubuntu 8.04 DVD, решил глянуть как ведут себя последние с оффсайта. поставил, поправил хорг, всё замечательно пашет, glxgears побольше показывает... бэкаплю хорг, перезагрузка, и красивое Ubuntuшно окно, безопасной графики. смотрю хорг, тоже что и было, меняю его бэкапленым, хрен... нашёл старенький, заведомо рабочий бэкап, тоже самое. вот скажите, это что хрень ?

Это делали :
..... итак модуль должен быть только один! поэтому нужно отключить модуль из пакета linux-restricted-modules
делается это изменением файла
/etc/default/linux-restricted-modules-common
там нужно исправить строчку на вот такую
DISABLED_MODULES="nv nvidia_new"
если у вас там уже что то есть то нужно добавить nv и nvidia_new через пробел например
DISABLED_MODULES="ath_hal fc fglrx ltm nv nvidia_new"
действие вступит в силу после перезагрузки.

Привет всем!
Хотелось бы уйти окончательно с винды на ubuntu 8.04, но не получается установить дрова для видюхи asus 8600gts!
Скажите что я не так делаю!
В /etc/default/linux-restricted-modules-common прописываю DISABLED_MODULES="nv nvidia_new"
Далее sudo apt-get remove nvidia-glx nvidia-glx-new nvidia-glx-legacy
Далее sudo apt-get install linux-headers-`uname -r` binutils pkg-config build-essential  xserver-xorg-dev
Далее sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop
Далее sudo -s -H
Далее sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-173.14.09.pkg1.run от установки nvidia-xonfig отказываюсь
Далее sudo cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.backup
В sudo nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf прописываю:

Sudo nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf - Нет лога  - это как понимать ? это не лог а конфиг, и как у тебя нету конфига?
а вот лог можно было и на форум приатачить, у меня например нет возможности с обменников качать в дневное время

Блин, ну зачем вы сразу лезете ковырять xorg.conf, при установке нужно в начале запустить автоматическое конфигурирование, а вы в отказ. Это со старыми дровами были проблемы, а сейчас в 90%, все нормально. Т.ч. переустановите nvidia, и скажите да для автомат. изм. конфига. У меня из 10 установок + результат у 8 (да не 90 а 80  )

Если ты о дровах с сайта nVidia, то это аццтой. Репозитарий рулит! Никаких проблем, а с .run'овскими мучалсо не раз...

У меня сейчас тоже дрова из репа все работает, на 7.10 и debian приходилось ставить с nvidia, на 7.10 например только в автомате конфигурировался правильный xorg, на дебе ручками приходилось править, а года 3 назад в мандриве ,, сначала сохранял под X нужный конфиг---убивал X и переписывал системный. Но всегда все работало.
