греется ноут после установки ubuntu

Имеется ноутбук Toshiba Satellite A-200(23-k), после установки и соответсвенно во время работы в Ubunt'е 9.04 очень сильно греется, в винде такого замечено не было.Грешу на ядро.Но вообще интересно в каком направлении копать?
Так же слышал, что никсы когда устанавливаются шьют биос, это миф или правда?

Биос стоит обновить самому официальной прошивкой. Автоматически он не обновляется.
Копать вероятно в сторону управления кулером + частотой работы процессора.
Для мониторинга температуры стоит поставить sensors-applet.

Для вашей машинки я, честно говоря, не знаю, надо гуглить, но знаю, что на моей это делать можно с помощью eee-applet.

скорее всего софт для управления кулером сидит в пакете lm-sensors. если сама по себе установка проблему не решит, можно запустить pwmconfig

сенсоры появились, но все же можно как-то прописать, что б при нагревании повышались обороты кулера?

Вы бы все-таки привели конкретные цифры температур, померив их в разных режимах работы соответствующим ПО и в WinXP/Vista, и в Ubuntu. Моё знакомство с 8.10 началось с перегрева, но в итоге выяснилось, что надо просто пыль чаще вытирать.
